Michael was the Co-chair of the capital campaign for the building of the new St. Joseph Parish Center. He was also very active in supporting the Cub Scouts and the Boy Scouts for many years. He is a member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Joseph Council and a fourth degree member of St. Jude Assembly. The Dougherty Family has been involved for many years giving of their time and talent to the Ministries of St. Joseph Parish.
The Knights of Columbus have always been interested in the development of strong, vibrant families. In support of this philosophy and to create an even greater awareness of our many fine Catholic families, the Supreme Council instituted the “Family of the Month” Program in 1978. Since that time the “Family of the Month” Program has grown to be one of the Order’s most successful. St. Joseph Council started the Program to recognize and honor the outstanding Catholic families in our parish. At the beginning of each month, the Knights of Columbus will select a Family of the Month and present to them a statue of the Holy Family to display in their homes for that month. Included in the presentation is a certificate recognizing the family and a prayer to the Holy Family by Pope Francis
