The Knights of Columbus, St. Joseph Council 10287 has selected Andrew and Samantha Aronson as “Family of the Month” for November 2019. Andrew and Samantha have been married for almost eight years and have been members of St. Joseph Parish since 2012. They have a son, Andre, who is 2 years old, and a baby girl, Serenity, that is due on December 23rd. Andrew has served the parish as an Extra Ordinary Minister of Holy Communion for several years and has been involved in Faith Formation and Youth Ministry, where he taught Confirmation-I Classes. He also taught 6th grade at Holy Family Cathedral School in Orange for 5 years and he currently teaches 7th grade History at Kraemer Middle School. Samantha is currently an administrative assistant for Chapman University's Religious Studies and Philosophy Departments. In 2014, Samantha started teaching a form of Natural Family Planning (NFP) called the "Creighton Model Fertility Care" System at St. Joseph Parish. She would hold free two-hour introductory sessions every other month for any interested couples or individuals. Then she would teach these interested couples 2-3 times a week in the evening at St. Joseph's. She recently stepped down from teaching at St. Joseph due to their second child being born next month. She plans to still help promote the Creighton System in the Diocese of Orange. In addition, Andrew and Samantha have given talks on marriage to teens at several parishes, both in and outside the Orange Diocese. The Aronson Family attends Mass weekly and actively participates at the Mass. They are very proud to be part of the St. Joseph Family.
The Knights of Columbus instituted the “Family of the Month” Program in 1978 to create a greater awareness of our many fine Catholic families. Since that time the “Family of the Month” Program has grown to be one of the Order’s most successful. St. Joseph Council began its own Program to recognize and honor the outstanding Catholic families in our parish. Each month, we will select a Family and present them a statue of the Holy Family to display in their homes for that month. Included in the presentation is a certificate and a prayer to the Holy Family by Pope Francis. The Family of the Month is requested to gather daily as a family and pray for the intentions of St. Joseph Parish.
